Depending upon the type of the skin, a homemade facemask must be applied. For different types of skin, different types of homemade facial masks are applicable. In ancient times, people used to make facemasks from the natural ingredients to keep their face soft and smooth. These homemade facemasks also help in fighting acne

Ingredients such as eggs, almonds, honey, cucumber, avocados, skimmed milk, fruits and vegetables can be used to make simple facemasks that actually work wonders for the skin. It is also important to use ingredients that are best suited to our skin, as some people are allergic to things such as milk, eggs and nuts. Therefore, it is imperative to be sure about the right ingredient to be chosen as a facemask so as to suit the skin type.

The best recommended homemade facemasks are those that are gentle on the skin, such as yogurt and strawberry facemasks. The recipe for this facemask calls for three tablespoons of yogurt and three large strawberries mixed together. Simply apply it on the face, wait for ten minutes and then rinse it off with water. The yogurt is supposed to clean and nourish the skin while the strawberries help in exfoliating the dead skin cells.

Honey as a Facial Mask: Use warm cloth to open the pores, smear on honey, wait for 15 to 30 minutes, rinse off with warm water and then use cold water to close pores.

The best homemade facial mask is raw egg yolk. Just apply the raw yolk on your face and neck for 30 minutes and rinse with normal cold water. Egg yolks are high in vitamin A. The mask is very effective in healing blemishes.

For oily skin, use some plain Milk of Magnesia and then just rub it on and let it dry. Finally rinse with lukewarm water.

For Normal or combination skin, mix one egg with half cup cooked instant oatmeal and a teaspoonful of olive oil, stir it thoroughly and make a paste until it becomes smooth. Spread on your face and leave for 15 min, then rinse.

For dry skin, mix one egg yolk with one teaspoonful each of honey and olive oil with a few drops of vitamin E oil. The application procedure is the same as that of combination skin. Apply moisturizer for soothing effect after use of facial masks for a glowing skin.

Masks should stay on for 10-15 minutes and should be followed by the application of cleansing milk and moisturizer. Mix three tablespoonfuls of olive oil and one tablespoonful kosher salt mix and gently rub on the dry skin. Do not use around eye area. This works great on elbows and feet. It can also be used on the cheeks and forehead.

Mix green and kaolin clays together with aloe Vera gel, rosewater and oils. Refrigerate this mixture for four weeks.

We can use basic ingredients found around our home to make simple, hydrating and effective masks. Mud or clay-based masks are great for balancing out the oily or acne prone skin. Dry skin will benefit from hydrating masks made from glycerin, honey and oils. For oily skin, use a clay-based facemask. For dry skin, go for a hydrating gel or cream mask.

Incase of Acne-Prone Skin, the mask is required to be made from 1 bottle of Milk of Magnesia without any flavors. Apply the Milk of Magnesia on your face and keep it for 10-15 minutes. Wash with clean cotton soaked in normal cold water. Fill a bowl with warm water, dip cotton in it and press onto the face. Repeat 2-3 times.

Bananas are eaten fresh and used in salads, desserts, breads and candies. Apart from this they can also be used as face masks. Bananas are a good source of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), Vitamin B 6, and potassium. Mix banana with honey and make a paste. Apply this paste over skin and sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off with normal cold water.

Ginseng or green tea masks are also great for soothing skin.

Things to remember for a clean skin:

Keep the hair clean. Acne, at times, appears due to dandruff. Wash hair twice a week using an anti dandruff shampoo.

Keep the body hydrated. Drink lots of water. It helps to eliminate the waste from the body. People who have constipation problem will develop acne for sure.

Keep the skin clean. Wash it with a mild antibacterial face wash. Then apply light moisturizer. While going out, apply light foundation with wet sponge (OIL FREE).

People with acne, are required to change pillowcases and bedspreads often.

Homemade Acne Masks :

Sandalwood Mask:

Take sandalwood powder, mix it with rose water, make it a paste and apply on the face. Leave it overnight, if possible. Sandalwood has a drying effect and therefore it is good to combat acne.

Tulsi and Neem Face pack:

Take dry leaves of Tulsi and Neem and make them into a paste. Then, apply this on the pimples. Leave it for 30 minutes and then wash it off using cold water. Neem and Tulsi have antibacterial effect, which will surely clear the skin.

Lemon:

Take 1 teaspoonful lemon juice, mix it with half teaspoonful water and apply it on the pimples. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wash it off using cold water.
