If hair poking out of your ears and nose are a cause of embarrassment for you, then it’s important for you to get rid of this hair. These days, hair removal is not just for women. Men are getting more and more conscious about their looks and hygiene. It makes them feel better about themselves and gives them self confidence. They are spending a good amount of money on the hair removal products to get rid of excessive hair and get a smooth look.

Hair type for men and women is quite different. So, they need to be treated differently. It’s a different case while waxing, as wax is strong enough to pull out even the tough hair.

Men usually wax their backs and chests. Though, now days, men are also going for eyebrow shaping and legs. Laser hair removal is a great alternative to daily shaving. For most of the men, the area that needs to be cleaned of hair is large for example back, legs and chest.

Various products that can be used for hair removal in men are:-

Hair removers- Hair removing creams are great alternative to shaving or waxing. It’s a fast, easy and gentle way of getting rid of unwanted hair.

These hair removing products melt the hair just beneath the surface of skin. Hairs do not re-grow until about 2-3 weeks. Also, when hair grows back, they are comparatively smooth and not as rough as with shaving.

These creams are very easy to use and are pain free.

But these creams may not be 100% natural. Hence they cannot be used on the sensitive skin or areas.

After using these creams for hair removal, one must put some soothing lotion on the treated area.

Hair removal strips- These are long strips which have adhesive. Hair get stuck on them and then are pulled out

Hair remover spray- Spray the lotion on the body. Let the spray stay for few minutes depending on the thickness of hair. The time mentioned on the packing must be strictly followed.

Then, gently wipe off the spray with a damp washcloth. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

The use of spray might cause some allergic reaction. Hence, it is very important to do the spot test to find out if your skin is allergic to the product. Only if its use on a particular spot does not cause redness, swelling, irritation and scarring, one must use it for the rest of the area. This product must not be used on sensitive skin areas such as face, nose, ears, around eyes etc.

4. Shaving- This has been the most common method of hair removal. Companies come up with different kind of blades to give as smooth shave as possible. It is important to use clean and sharp razor. One must apply shaving gel to the wet hair. It makes them easier to cut. Shaving does not change the rate of growth of hair.

Professionals at beauty parlors provide following

  • Waxing – Wax plucks the hair from below the surface. It is quite a painful procedure but has longer lasting results. As the hair is plucked out from the root, the re-growth does not occur for several weeks. It can be used for most of the body parts. Men prefer to get their eyebrows waxed. They get it done on their chest and back as well for a smooth look.

Wax can be hot or cold.

Wax is applied on the skin. It is then allowed to cool for a while. The hair gets embedded in the wax. They are then pulled out with a strip of cloth in the opposite direction as the growth of the hair. Strips come in different sizes so that they can be used on different parts of the body.

  • Electric epilators- In this type of treatment, electric current is used to remove hair. Two types of devise can be used for this purpose

Needle epilators- In this process, each hair is treated individually. A fine wire is inserted to the hair shaft under the skin into the hair follicle. Then, electric current is passed through the wire and destroys the hair root. This damaged hair is then plucked with the tweezers.

Tweezers epilators – They don’t penetrate the skin and hence are less painful. The hair is grasped with the help of tweezers close to the skin. Electric current is then passed through it which travels down the root of the hair. This is also a permanent method of hair removal.

  • Laser treatment- A single wavelength light is passed through the hair. It travels down and is converted into heat. This heat is absorbed by the darker material at the hair shaft, melanin, but not the lighter surrounding area of skin.

Cosmetic hair removal is suitable for some, but not for all men. Its quick and easy but can also be time consuming and uncomfortable. So, any man who desires to get rid of unwanted hair, there are several hair removal products.
