One of the most common hair problems is dandruff. Some of the anti-dandruff shampoos available in market claims to be the best in solving dandruff problems, but the harmful chemicals used in the preparation of anti-dandruff shampoos makes your hair dry.
We need some anti-dandruff shampoos which can give us dandruff free hair without loosing the hair moisture.
Treatment
It is really easy to follow certain home made anti-dandruff preparations which help us to get rid of dandruff. Here’s some home made recipes for the treatment of dandruff:
Anti-Dandruff - Lemon preparation
Ingredients:
Take eight tablespoons of lemon juice.
One and a half cup of water
Instructions: Mix all ingredients and apply it on head. Keep this mixture on your head for about two to three hours and then wash it off.
Anti-Dandruff – Egg preparation
Ingredients:
Take white portion of one egg
One tablespoon of lemon juice
Instructions: Beat the egg white and mix lemon juice in it. Apply and leave it to soak for an hour before shampooing your hair.
Anti-Dandruff – Vinegar preparation
Ingredients:
Take two tablespoon of vinegar
Half bucket of water
Instructions: After shampooing your hair, apply the mixture of vinegar and water onto your hair
Home Based Treatment for Dandruff
Applying the mixture of beetroot juice and vinegar on the scalp helps in fighting dandruff.
Beetroot juice mixed with ginger juice applied on the scalp is also beneficial in removing dandruff.
Apply mixture of 1 tablespoon of pure apple juice and 3 tablespoon of warm water into the scalp three times a week.
Mix olive and almond oil together and massage into your scalp. Leave it for 5 minutes and then rinse well.
For treating mild dandruff, one can use lemon juice mixed with coconut oil followed by a hot towel treatment. This treatment boosts blood circulation.
Dandruff can also be treated by using an herb called Burdock (Arctium lappa). You can add Burdock extract to your favorite shampoo and massage on your scalp.
One of the amazing properties for your scalp is using Willow leaves. Boil some willow leaves. Strain the solution and wash your hair and apply to your scalp.
Dandruff can also be treated with curd (kept in the open for 3 days). Massaging hair with curd for half an hour can give best results.
Massaging your hair with castor oil twice a week is also helpful in removing dandruff.
Coconut milk also helps fight dandruff. Extract thick milk from coconut. Apply the coconut milk on hair and leave overnight. Wash it the next day with a mild shampoo. If repeated twice a week, it gives you relief from dandruff.
Most of us are not aware that the well known pain killer aspirin, which is used for relieving aches, is also effective in eliminating dandruff problem. Take two tablets of aspirin and crush them to form a powder and then add it to your shampoo. Wash and rinse thoroughly so that aspirin particles are removed from the scalp.
Following a balanced diet including green leafy vegetables and fruits in your meals is the best home remedy to get rid of dandruff.
Another interesting formula that can treat your dandruff problem is baby oil. Apply baby oil to your head. Wrap your head in a towel and leave it until morning. Then you can shampoo and use the baby oil daily till your dandruff is all gone.
Mix 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, 100 g witch hazel in 200 ml of water. Shampoo your hair and apply this mixture with cotton ball to your scalp when the hair is still wet. Repeat several times to see best results.

While considering a home remedy, you have many options to use as cure for dandruff and if you feel that a particular remedy or ingredient doesn’t suit you, you can try an alternative. Following certain homemade anti-dandruff preparations is actually better than using some ready-made products available in market. Sometimes, where a particular home remedy doesn’t suit one person it might give good results to the other.
