Healthy Hair, the Herbal Way

People often choose to follow the natural path when it comes to the treatment of illnesses & diseases, as they are reluctant to use any chemical products because of the fear of any possible side effects prevailing in their mind. A healthy body always compliments healthy hair, so a diet rich in proteins, vitamin A, green leafy vegetables, meat, fish, etc works wonders both for our body and hair.

Herbal Oil

The best care which can be done on the hair is hair massaging using different oils. If one can learn how to do this at home, it would be much cheaper than those expensive spas & hair clinics. One can try out warm olive oil which is widely known to nurture & nourish the hair. Another option could be warmed coconut oil. Burdock (Arctium Lappa) Oil is medicinal hair oil which helps in improving healthy hair. It is natural oil which likewise also improves scalp conditions like irritation, redness etc. Castor oil is the natural remedy to make the quantity of the hair more dense, thick & lustrous though after application it emits an irritating odor which will vanish after one shampoo’s & conditions their suitable brands.

There are many benefits of a hair massage. Massaging the hair not only replenishes the hair but it also relaxes the mind & the nervous system. Besides it also revives & vitalizes dry & damaged hair and checks the hair from being too brittle & having split-ends. The oil when massaged evenly helps the hair to soften & manageable. It nurtures the roots of the hair to become stronger.

Henna

Another popular herbal product is henna, which is widely available & hence inexpensive. Henna has been used since centuries & the most important significance of it being its ability to dye & color the hair naturally. It is also a very good natural conditioner. It also helps in revitalizing dull & lifeless hair thereby helping to keep the hair naturally healthy. Speaking of a good herbal conditioner for your hair, rinsing your hair with chamomile (an aromatic flower) is an excellent choice. Ginger has some properties within them which promote the growth of the hair follicles & it has fatty acids which help in cases of hair loss.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is another plant when crushed & applied all over the roots & the scalp of the head promotes soft & healthy hair. One more benefit of aloe vera is it improves the quality of the hair, thereby making it dense & lustrous. Neem leaves when boiled & applied evenly all over acts as a very good disinfectant for cleaning the scalp & the follicle. It has natural medicinal property to keep dandruff at bay which can be the cause of hair loss. This property makes it very useful for the hair. One more herb which helps in curtailing dandruff is dried thyme (a culinary herb) this too has to boiled & after cooling needs to be massaged unto the hair. Similarly a boiled dried rosemary rinse is useful to counter the ill-effects of dandruff & an itchy scalp.

Other Techniques

Using vinegar to rinse one hair helps in making the cuticle (the outermost layer of hair) shinier & healthy. It is also responsible for making the hair less tangled. Natural hair experts believe & suggest that consuming nettle, another herbal plant in the forms of capsules drastically helps in the overall stimulation of growth of the hair root level. Dried nettle also has excellent anti-dandruff properties. Capsicum is known to promote hair growth and providing the blood flow to the scalp of the hair. Sage Tea – made out of sage leaves contains antiseptic properties & is effective in thickening & making the wearied out hair shafts solid.

Though there is a certain amount of affinity of people towards herbal products & extracts, home made remedies & so on... It’s always recommended that one should ask their health care advisor first before trying out any herbal product or their applications. This will help specially to those who may have an allergy or any other possible side-effects. One should be aware that there might be no scientific proof on the intake of herbs or their application... Anyways anything consumed too much is not good, rite.
