Aromatherapy Electric Diffuser - Types & Techniques     Bookmark and Share

Several options exist that can make a room smell terrific: potpourri, candles, sprays and reed diffusers. Two of the most popular methods are using cool evaporation and plugging in an aromatherapy electric diffuser. All essential oils have some healing or positive effect on either the mind or body. An electric essential oil diffuser helps in infusing your office or home with a wide variety of therapeutic scents. These essential oils, depending on their qualities can benefit physical and mental conditions as headaches, insomnia, anxiety and tension.

Electric aromatherapy diffusers are easy to use. All you need to do is add a few drops of any essential oil into the tray of the diffuser. The diffuser then converts the essential oil to a fine vapor which it then disperses into the room.

Cool Evaporation Technique

Egyptians have been known to practice the technique of using cool air to disperse the fragrance of an essential oil. This involves the simple process of filling a shallow stone, wood, or metal bowl with 15 to 20 drops of your favorite oil blend and leaving it in the room you want to fill with beneficial aroma. You can also find wood discs infused with essential oils to use in your car as air fresheners.

Some products take advantage of heat as well by placing a thin metal bowl on a stand that sits over a candle.

These devices look like a small egg and are usually dome-shaped. An aromatherapy electric diffuser has a small tray at the bottom that holds a cotton pad. Place about 20 drops of the essential oil on the pad and then slide the tray shut. When you plug the diffuser, a fan will begin to run which creates a gentle air current to help the scent of the oil spread throughout the room within minutes.

You need to replenish the essential oil every couple of hours. If you are unable to smell the fragrance of the oil after 30 minutes, do not assume that the aromatherapy electric diffuser has stopped working. It\'s just that our senses of smell adapt to a continuous scent and essentially, stop registering it. Step outside the room for a few minutes and when you are back the smell will also return.

A nebulizing diffuser is the right choice if you want to fill your entire house with a fragrance. These work by turning the essential oil into a mist that is sprayed into the air by a pump. You have a wide variety to choose from in terms of size color and shape so that you can blend them with the décor of your house.

You can find a portable aromatherapy electric diffuser so that you can carry it along, wherever you go. It would be good idea for frequent travelers, to set up their diffusers in hotel rooms to create a cozy atmosphere.
