Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy Kits are a hassle free and simple way to enjoy aromatherapy benefits and allow you to have a complete aromatherapy experience. You do not have to go around looking for a bottle of this and a box of that. These handy kits are meant to provide you a collection of products that aid different levels of experience and projects and you also save money and time. Natural products, plants and herbs, have long been used by man for various healing purposes. Before the advent of modern day medicine, healers and witchdoctors used plant extracts to heal common ailments and even serious diseases. Many modern day medicines also have their origin in these extracts.

People tend to use aromatherapy kits as a drug free, holistic approach to healing that they can use at home. A few kits may be created from common or garden varieties of everyday plants and fruits. For example, essential oils extracted from grapefruit are used as perfumes or to flavor drinks. The term essential oils refers to the oil extracted from the plant or one of its part like the leaf, bark, flower or seed.

Generally an aromatherapy essential oil kit may include one or two oils or at times, several different oils. The kit is made with an overall theme in mind so that the oils complement each other. That’s the reason why these aromatherapy kits do not have massage oils and healing salves together.    .

An aromatherapy kit, therefore, can take several different forms depending on what you need most. A few options are:

Beginner Kits

These kits generally have three to twelve essential oils, including some of most common ones like rose, tea tree, geranium, and lavender oils. A good aromatherapy kit would also contain carrier oils like jojoba and coconut oil for diluting the essential oils. The kit should ideally have a few dark glass bottles to store your blends and protect them from sunlight.

Kits that have artificial oils or rubber-topped bottles must be avoided as synthetic fragrances do not have therapeutic benefits as those provided by the natural alternative. Undiluted essential oils are strong so the rubber top can dissolve and contaminate the oil.

Also remember to have an introductory guide for essential oils in your aromatherapy kit, so that you know how to use them safely and which oil to use for which benefit.

Blending Kits

A blender kit will remind you of a miniature scientific laboratory; it contains various tools needed to mix essential and carrier oils together. This kit will have a combination of dark glass bottles, glass stirring rods, beakers, funnels, pipettes, and droppers. However, be careful that the plastic is not used for these products as plastic can absorb the scents of essential oils, leading to accidental mixing.

Other things that are included are labels for the bottles and strips of paper to test the aromas of each blend. Rubbing alcohol is also a part of the kit to clean the equipment every time you switch essential oils. Including a notebook for recording the steps taken to create each mixture is also a good idea.

A blending kit may have a specific purpose like a healing kit or a relaxation kit. However before you buy such a kit, make sure that you know what oil serves what purpose so that the oils are actually suitable for the stated use.

Samplers

A sampler aromatherapy kit is a combination of oils of different species of the same plant. The aromatic and therapeutic quality of specific specie is unique, so these kits are a good way to find out which one of the eight species of lavender you prefer.

After some time and use you will begin to have knowledge about aromatherapy and you can start to customize your kit. This will be a more expensive option but it will include the types of essential oils that you are fond of and which have a beneficial effect on you.  You can mix and match themes so that you have essential oils for skin care, shampoos, soap and air borne diffusers.

Aromatherapy kits are a great gift for family and friends and also a good buy for yourself. If you are stressed at the end of the day, a great way to relax is to set of an aromatherapy diffuser with your favorite relaxation essential oil. Massage oil kits can be gifted to somebody you share an intimate relationship with and both of you can probably enjoy a great evening together.
